The area itself has lots to offer including the dramatic Ceredigion coastline which features a variety of quaint coastal villages, horseshoe coves and stunning beaches where dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day! The bustling coastal resorts of New Quay and Aberaeron are just a short drive and set within their tranquil fishing harbours with a variety of boutique gift shops, art galleries and seafood restaurants! The charming market town of Cardigan is only 4 miles away at the mouth of the glistening River Teifi which is overlooked by its historical castle dating back to 12th century. Just 2 minutes’ walk from the cottage there is a cafe and playbarn, ideal for young children. Shop 2 miles, pubs 4½ miles, restaurant 4 miles.

About the local area

One of the most rural counties in Wales, overlooking Cardigan Bay, Ceredigion offers unspoilt countryside and uncrowded beaches. Much of the coastline is designated as a `heritage coast', and is one of Britain's most diverse areas for marine wildlife.

The coast is home to a resident pod of some 130 bottlenose dolphins as well as porpoises and grey seals. Eco-friendly boat trips to fully experience the coastline and its wildlife run frequently in the summer months from New Quay and Aberaeron. Hidden coves and sandy beaches also allow you to escape from the crowds.

Inland the countryside is a green vastness of hills and valleys dotted with small villages and market towns. There are several nature reserves, home to rare species of flora and fauna. Explore these on one of the many walking trails across the county and for the more adventurous; there is an awesome 35 km mountain biking trail in Nant Bwlch yr Arian high in the Cambrian Mountains. And afterwards, treat yourself to an award wining honey ice cream from Aberaeron!
