Situated along the western flank of Cefn Bryn - a magnificent 600ft sandstone ridge - the village of Reynoldston lies at the right at the heart of the Gower Peninsula, and within easy reach of all the region has to offer. Self-catering holiday cottage accommodation here is the perfect choice for those who wish to explore the peninsula in its entirety with convenience and complete freedom.
A settlement which dates back to the sixth-century, Reynoldston was formed around the original church, the plot of which later gave way to the nineteenth-century St George’s church. St George’s is home to a font constructed from a stalagmite from a local cave, together with one of Gower’s oldest Christian monuments - a tenth-century pillar cross. Also home to a Neolithic tomb, this village has more than its fair share of historical intrigue.
Visit nearby Rhosilli on the southwestern tip of the peninsula, and you can avail of great surfing, watersporting and hang-gliding opportunities, and in the surrounding areas, take a trip on foot, bike or horseback along incredible countryside and coastal paths. The area is also home to several nature reserves and woodland, namely those at Mumbles, Llanmadoc and Oxwich.
Cefyn Bryn, predominantly moorland, makes for a startlingly bleak landscape, but one which it is complemented by the stunning view out across the coastline over the Bristol Channel to Lundy Island, Devon and Exmoor, north towards the Brecon Beacons and west to Carmarthenshire.
