Located at the southernmost point of Gower and just fifteen minutes from the incredibly popular Port Eynon Bay, Oxwich is an historic village of particularly unique beauty.

Although a fairly small village, there’s plenty to see here. Visit one of its two castles, one of which is its sixteenth-century Oxwich castle, which stands tall on wooded headland over Oxwich Bay.  While some of it was converted into a farmhouse, the rest of it fell into disrepair in the eighteenth-century, the impressive remains of which can still be seen today.

The village is also home to several incredible thatched cottages which, together with the beautiful crisp-white St Illtyd’s church, adds bundles to the charm of its surrounding coastline and countryside. Visitors will also be met with the presence of salt marshes and a nature reserve, which mean that the area has a plentiful population of wildfowl and plant life.

Oxwich is a village set in beautiful surroundings, and together with its salt marshes, nature reserve and enchanting little cottages, it is also blessed with stunning, rugged coastline and verdant woodland, making it a popular destination for walkers and nature lovers.

A stone’s throw from other areas of historical interest such as Rhossili, Port Eynon and Llanmadoc, Oxwich is a perfectly picturesque little hideaway from which to explore the wonders of the surrounding peninsula, with a wide variety of self-catering holiday cottages available in in the area, each of which provide something a little bit different from the last.
