The largest village on the Gower Peninsula, Bishopston is equidistant between and just thirteen miles from both Rhossili and the Welsh coastal city of Swansea. A drive anywhere between ten and twenty-five minutes will take you to any of the many other surrounding villages and beauty spots the peninsula has to offer.

Bishopston’s three sandy beaches Brandy Cove, Pwlldu Bay and Caswell Bay are popular beach destinations with holidaymakers, and all have something a little different to offer. Caswell’s safe waters and lifeguards during the summer months make it popular with families and surfers alike. Brandy Cove was associated with smuggling in the sixteenth- to nineteenth-centuries, taking its name from the contraband it helped locals conceal. West of Brandy Cove, Pwlldu beach is peaceful and remote, with only two restored residential buildings nearby.

In fairly close proximity to the village are great watersporting and hang-gliding opportunities at Mumbles, Rhossili and Port Eynon. Rhossili’s 633ft sandstone down provides a particularly excellent launching point for hang-gliding and is very popular for the sport.

With lots of charm and plenty of nature reserves, historic landmarks and opportunities to pursue outdoor activities the surrounding area, Bishopston is a great place from which to enjoy a cottage holiday.
