Description

Set in eight acres of tranquil meadow and orchard, on the outskirts of the picturesque village of St Florence and just three miles from Tenby’s stunning beaches, lies Lillimoor Farm’s Primrose Cottage.  Attractively and sympathetically converted from an old building, on what was once a dairy farm, its caring owners have created character packed, yet spacious accommodation. Its private patio and lawned area offer the ideal spot to dine alfresco and enjoy views across Lillimoor’s immaculate landscaped gardens and meadow land beyond; while French doors from the beam-crossed living room and sumptuous bedroom connect indoors without.  Primrose Cottage really is a haven of peace, comfort and convenience. Falling into its luxurious four-poster bed after ambling home from the village pub or having enjoyed some fun-packed coastal adventure, has to be the perfect way to end the day.  With Lillimoor’s eight acres offering walks around the land, a wildlife pond, an orchard, an area for boules and even an all weather tennis court for guests to enjoy, a stay at Primrose Cottage provides the perfect escape from urban life.

With its award-winning floral displays and Flemish chimneys, St Florence has long been renowned as one of the loveliest villages in Wales. The Norman church tower dominates the landscape, while its two 17th century picture postcard pubs serve a blend of live music, wild, local lobster and hearty pub classics. Anna Ryder Richardson’s Manor House Wildlife Park, just a five minute stroll from Primrose Cottage, is worth a visit too. Stroke a wallaby or feed a lemur as you wander through their huge, ‘walk-through’ enclosures. This wonderfully natural environment is as a wildlife park should be, with animal welfare their number one priority.

Just three miles down the road lies the medieval walled town of Tenby. With its stunning Blue Flag beaches offering a host of water-sports and equipment hire, fishing trips, coastal cruises, an 18 hole golf course in the sand dunes, as well as quaint, winding streets full of cafes, shops, galleries, bars and restaurants; it’s easy to see why it’s a popular destination for many. The 16th century Plantagenet House serves exceptionally good dishes created from local produce and the fresh, daily catch of fish; while the Dennis Cafe on Castle Sands, with its breathtaking views and relaxed atmosphere, has been rated by The Times as one of the top ten coffee drinking spots in the whole of the UK.   Also it’s from here that the brightly coloured, old fishing boats ferry visitors to Caldey Island: Owned and farmed by self-sustaining monks for centuries, many find it hard to resist sampling the chocolate, perfume and serene atmosphere created by its very special residents. From poetry in pubs to extravagant fire-works displays at the harbour, events are common-place in this town. Late September’s week long Arts Festival serves up a fantastically diverse programme of events from male voice choir concerts to world-class sand sculpture competitions. Late June’s county-wide Fish Week shouldn’t be missed either: Cookery demonstrations by celebrity chefs, a whole host of themed events and restaurants from north to south creating special dishes to celebrate all that swims in our waters, it’s a must for any foodie. The late summer Narberth Food Festival is another gastronomic delight, showcasing the rich and diverse produce farmed in Pembrokeshire; the garden of Wales. The intriguing, brightly painted, Georgian market town of Narberth lies just 9 miles inland from Primrose Cottage.   Its unique blend of stylish, independent shops, galleries with a vast array of local art and some great eateries have earned the town the reputation of being one of the best shopping experiences in Wales. The cafe bar within Ultracomeda, the delicatessen on the High Street, serves lunches and wines that simply can’t be missed.

Whether in search of retail therapy, galloping on horse-back through the surf at Amroth, stepping back in time in Manorbier’s medieval castle or simply rest and relaxation, a stay at Primrose Cottage offers it all. Easy access to so much, yet tucked away in the tranquil haven of Lillimoor Farm, Primrose Cottage is truly a special place to be.
