The town centre of Newport is within walking distance of the cottage - where you will find galleries, antique shops, post office, bank, pharmacy, coffee shops, water-sports and more.  Newport is home to a range of dining experiences from traditional Thai curries in The Royal Oak to fine-dining on locally sourced produce in Llys Meddyg (recently given a very favourable review in The Sunday Times).  It boasts both a Norman castle and church which stand proudly above its ancient streets and pathways which lead directly to the River Nevern Estuary which teems with wildlife.  The Newport Links Golf Course and Resort offers a superb venue for enjoying excellent food but also to enjoy an unrivalled, breathtaking view across the estuary to Newport town, the beach, sand dunes and the Preseli Hills.

The 186 miles of the Pembrokeshire national trail must be explored.  Starting in Amroth and ending in St Dogmaels, the coastal path was recently named the third best walk in the World.  It is a rare opportunity to see the Welsh coast in all its brilliance.  The path includes all kinds of different landscapes, from its castellated cliffs to its sheltered bays, open beaches and estuaries.  One popular beach nearby is Cwm yr Eglwys – a picturesque cove located between Fishguard and Newport.  It offers safe bathing for families, a narrow slipway for launching small boats and access to the coastal path.
There is simply so much to see and do in the surrounding area.  Much of Pembrokeshire and the neighbouring county of Ceredigion are accessible within an hour’s drive of Annwylfan.  Castles, theme parks, stunning beaches, quaint village, medieval towns, events and festivals and much, much more are waiting to be enjoyed!
