About the local area

Thornthwaite and Braithwaite are situated in between Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwentwater in the Northern Lakes.
These peaceful Lakeland villages are ideally located, with many local places of interest right on the doorstep; lakes, forests, mountains and the delightful market town of Keswick a short distance away. Great for cycling, walking, nature watching and water sports on the nearby lakes.
Whinlatter Forest Park is adjacent and is England's only true Mountain Forest. From May to September visitors can see wild Bassenthwiate Ospreys raise their young, either at the lake or via video link to the Whinlatter Forest Park Visitor Centre. The park has miles of footpaths and cycle ways and provides a habitat for a wide range of wild life. They also have many organised activities and events throughout the year.
Both villages are within easy reach of all the essential amenities and Keswick is only 2 or 3 miles away. Braithwaite has a village shop and two excellent pubs both serving bar meals.

Jenkin Hill Lodge is a beautiful find, if you want to get away from it all and enjoy spectacular views this is the place for you.

C Warrington -

We've stayed in many holiday rentals in the lakes and this property is excellent, really well equipped with superb views to the fells. The owners, which live nearby are friendly and helpful, and not at all intrusive. The photos on the website do not do this property justice and I would recommend it to others.

S De-Keizer -

Great property. Larger than one would expect. Ideal location for exploring the Lake District and with friendly owners living nearby. Would recommend it.
