The village has a visitor centre, shopping facilities, restaurants and an attractive green. It is also home to Tree Top Adventures – an award winning attraction offering high level adventures through the trees! There is also a golf club on the edge of the village and it is a great centre for activities such as walking (there are many local forest and valley walks and the high mountain peaks of Snowdonia are an easy drive), climbing and mountain biking, fishing, horse riding and bird watching. Indeed, for biking the Marin Trail is nearby and for bird watching there is the RSPB bird sanctuary at Conwy. Meanwhile, Seren Ventures at Colwyn Bay can offer guided mountain walks and mountaineering/navigation courses.
The beautiful west coast is easily accessible and offers wonderful sandy beaches great for family days out, whilst Anglesey Sea Zoo – the biggest aquarium in Wales and The Welsh Mountain Zoo at Colywn Bay with its wide range of animals including snow leopards, brown bears and sumartran tigers, will also keep the family entertained. For those with an interest in history, a visit to the medieval walled town of Conwy is a must with its awe inspiring castle built by Edward I. Nearby Dolwyddelan castle was built by Llewelyn the Great and later remodelled by Edward I while Caernarfon castle is equally important, and architecturally one of the most impressive castles in Wales.
Caernarfon has many other attractions including a Roman Fort and Museum and the Greenwood Forest Theme Park with its people powered roller coaster. For a more restful day out there are National Trust properties including Bodnant Garden, Penrhyn Castle and Plas Newydd and steam railways including the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the Ffestiniog Railway within easy reach.
This wonderful location really does offer something for everyone.
