Description

Rafel Farmhouse is an attached Grade II Listed Building and the sort of holiday property city-dwellers dream about, white-rendered, slate roofed, set in a secluded location and containing many original features, it oozes character, integrity and charm. The lounge for example, boasts a stunning wood-burning stove. This combines with the original, overhead beams to set an atmosphere and ambience within the room that is both homely and welcoming- the perfect place to begin and end the day. One can only imagine the pleasure to be gained from staring, glass of chilled wine to hand and lights dipped, into the amber glow of the stove after a tiring but fun-filled day spent sight-seeing. The large, farmhouse style kitchen can accommodate the hustle and bustle of larger parties with ease and the spacious dining room the natural spot to linger over a well-cooked meal and debate the highlights of the day. Perhaps one of the main strengths of the property is its location in the beautiful Snowdonia National Park - officially designated an area of outstanding natural beauty.

It is a region of majestic scenic quality and its rugged, wind-swept landscapes compare with anything else on offer in the British Isles. There are walking and cycling trails galore within the park and the area is dotted with cosy and welcoming eating establishments in which to unwind and relax after several hours invigorating exercise. Those who prefer to explore the superb peaks and ranges through less arduous methods can use the breathtaking mountain railway. The property is only a couple of miles from the attractive and vibrant town of Bala, famous for the quality of its watersports and all types of fishing. Not surprising as the town sits alongside its own lake- Bala Lake, the largest natural lake in Wales and which can be viewed from the comfort of a charming steam railway. The lake is home to the Gwynaid, a unique species of fish that is thought to date back to the ice-age. An hour’s drive north of the property will bring visitors within reach of the much loved coastal resorts of North Wales. Llandudno for example, provides a superb range of amenities. It has an excellent selection of shops and eating establishments, and a walk along its stunning pier, is an absolute must.
