On a clear day it is worth climbing Cader Idris above Dolgellau as the views from the top are truly astounding. Tal y Llyn Lake below Cader Idris is one of the most famous and scenic fishing lakes in Wales. The Tal y Llyn Railway allows visitors to enjoy a 7 mile steam journey from Tywyn to Nant Gwernol and Corris itself has a railway built in 1859 - the first narrow gauge railway in Mid Wales. The small market town of Machynlleth is 6 miles from Corris Uchaf and is known for its weekly street market, interesting buildings, museum of modern art and leisure centre.
