There are several lakes nearby namely Brenig Bran, Aled and Alwen and fishing and sailing are available. Indeed, the word "Bryntrillyn" is Welsh for "the hill of the three lakes" (the original being the aforementioned Aled, Alwen and Bran with the fourth lake, Brenig being created at a later date). The Snowdonia National Park is within easy driving distance providing some of the best walking and climbing country in the whole of the British Isles with spectacular landscapes all year round and in all weathers. For the more adventurous the National Whitewater Centre is situated a short distance away near Bala. The village of Betws-y-Coed is also just a short drive with its popular visitor centre, shopping facilities, restaurants and attractive green. The village also has a golf club and is home to Tree Top Adventures - a Tourism Award winning attraction. Llandudno is also easily accessible offering excellent shopping facilities, a range of restaurants and also a famous Victorian pier which is over 2,000 feet in length and is the longest recreational pier in Wales. A visit to the medieval walled town of Conwy is a must with its awe inspiring castle built by Edward I between 1283 and 1289 as one of his "iron ring" of castles to contain the Welsh. Porthmadog, known as the Gateway to Snowdonia, Rhyl and Rhos- on-Sea are all easily reached and offer superb beaches perfect for a family day out. Colwyn Bay is also well worth a visit – families will love a trip to the biggest aquarium in Wales and the Welsh Mountain Zoo with its wide range of animals including snow leopards, brown bears and sumartran tigers.  Meanwhile Caernarfon Castle is one of the most architecturally impressive castles in Wales.. Caernarfon has many other attractions including a Roman Fort and Museum and the Greenwood Forest Theme Park with its people powered roller coaster.  For a more restful day out there are National Trust properties including Bodnant Gardens, Penrhyn Caslte and Plas Newydd.  Whatever your interests Bwthyn Bryntrillyn is an ideal base from which to explore this beautiful part of North Wales.

S Suravarapu - August 2011

The landlord was very friendly and provided us with a cake. Its very quite at night and secluded, this is really a selling point for this cottage. Its next to a A road yet absolutely no traffic is seen.
