Nant y Gain Fishing Lodges offer contemporary holiday accommodation in the heart of rural North Wales. Built around a private fishing lake and set in stunning grounds the lodges (refs: 30593, 30594 & 30595) are located in the Flintshire village of Cilcain, which has a local pub and post office/shop. A wider range of amenities can be found in the nearby market town of Mold, 5 miles. Situated within the Clwydian Mountain Range (AONB), this area is great for those who love the outdoors with lots of opportunities for walking, cycling and mountain biking with many footpaths and trails on the doorstep. There are two country parks within 5 miles. Offa’s Dyke, which stretches for 177 miles, attracts walkers from all over the world, thanks to its stunning scenery, woodland, forts, abbeys, flora and fauna and is very accessible from here. Other places of interest nearby include National Trust’s Erdigg, 14 miles, Chirk Castle, 18 miles, Bodnant Gardens, 24 miles, Holywell, 9 miles and Llangollen,18 miles. Some of North Wales’ popular beach resorts such as Talacre, Rhyl and Prestatyn can be reached within half an hour by car and Snowdonia can be reached in just under an hour. Fishing is available on site free of charge (own equipment and licence required). Other activities available locally include golf and horse riding. Shop and pub ½ mile, restaurant 5 miles.

This being frontier country, there are plenty of historic sites, fortresses and castles which remind us of the area's turbulent past. Thankfully now all is peaceful, allowing the visitor to immerse themselves in centuries of history; from Wales's largest prehistoric monument, Gop Cairn, to the 700 year old intact magnificence of Chirk Castle

Wrexham to the north enjoys a very privileged location. Within twenty minutes travel you can lose yourself in the Welsh hills, be fascinated by the Roman remains in Chester or view the rich historical past within Wrexham. A short drive from Wrexham town centre you can find and enjoy a number of historical sites which remind us of the local way of life over hundreds of years. Add to this excellent road links to North Wales, the North West and beyond and you can understand why Wrexham is a very popular place to visit and stay.

Located between the River Dee and the Berwyn Mountains is Llangollen, a picturesque, bustling market town. Famous for the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod held in July each year, visitors come from world wide to spectate and compete in poetry, dance and music competitions.

Further south is the town of Welshpool. This area has an endless range of things to do and places to see. From walking trails, wildlife, fishing and golf to historic sites, beautiful villages and stunning scenery. Nearby is the town of Montgomery where you can visit the historic castle of the same name or enjoy the countryside along the Montgomery Canal
