A visit to the medieval walled town of Conwy is a must, with its awe inspiring castle built by Edward I as one of his "iron ring" to contain the Welsh. Caernarvon Castle is equally spectacular being architecturally one of the most impressive of all the castles in Wales, also built by Edward I and the scene of Prince Charles' investiture in 1969. Caernarvon boasts many other attractions including Segontium Roman Fort and Museum, The Welsh Highland Railway, a Maritime Museum, Hwylfan Fun Centre (the largest indoor fun centre in North Wales) and the Greenwood Forest Theme Park which even has a people powered roller coaster to name but a few. The village of Betsys-y-Coed is a short drive with its attractive green, visitor centre, restaurants and shopping facilities. There is also a golf club and for those brave enough it is also home to the Tourism Award winning Tree Top Adventures. Nearby Colwyn Bay and Rhos-on-Sed offer perfect family days out with their award winning beaches, whilst for the adventurous, The National Whitewater Centre is situated within easy reach at Bala. For those keen to walk and maybe to climb, the Snowdonia National Park is the place to head for as it offers some of the most exhilarating and spectacular landscapes in the whole of the British Isles whatever the season.
