The picturesque coastal village of Cemaes on the north coast of Anglesey is partly owned by the National Trust, which protects it as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The charms of Cemaes village are particularly loved by artists, who come from all over the world to paint the harbour as the sun sets over the multi-coloured rocks and cliffs.
The Anglesey Coastal Path runs right through the village and takes in the Valley of the Otters – a woodland route where wildflowers blossom near a river.
The history of Cemaes stretches back well over a thousand years, as those who have visited Llanbadrig, or ‘the church of St Patrick’. Founded in 440 AD, the church at Cemaes is thought to have a direct link to the patron saint of Ireland.
On a clear day, the Isle of Man can be seen from the rocky cliffs of Cemaes and wildlife spotters will be able to keep an eye out for Peregrine falcons, foxes and porpoises.
