For history lovers the medieval town of Beaumaris boasts its own gaol, a massive building in which you can gain an insight into the world of the Victorian prisoner and a courthouse built in 1614 where you can stand in the dock and find out about some of the more notorious criminals of Anglesey's past. A visit to Beaumaris Castle is a must. Built as one of Edward 1's "iron ring" it is surrounded by a water filled moat and enjoys fantastic views of sea and mountains. Although never finished (money and supplies ran out), it is none the less a tremendous and awe inspiring sight and is widely regarded as perhaps the most technically perfect castle in Britain. The equally special castles of Caernarfon and Conwy are also within easy driving distance. For children wishing to let off steam a visit to the Treasure Island Fun Centre in Beaumaris could be just the thing whilst even closer to Fargen Wen at Llangoed, and perfect for a more relaxing day out, is Plas Bodfa, an idyllic Country House with lovely views and formal gardens together with a traditional tea room and gift shops. Whatever your interests this stunning part of North Wales has something to offer.
