This year held in the coastal town of Tenby, Penbrokeshire the 11th September marked this years Ironman Wales event. A 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle ride and 26.2 mile marathon awaited the competitiors as they aimed to be one of 50 who qualify for the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua–Kona, Hawaii.
Athletes from over 40 countries arrived on the South coast of Wales for their chance to compete in this endurance race with Jeremy Jurkiewicz finally finishing on top. At 9 hrs, 4 mins, 20 secs the Frechman clocked an impressive time but it was a close victory with Australian Aaron Farlow pushed into second finishing just 5 seconds behind the eventual winner.
Plenty of spectators were out through the streets of Tenby to show their support for the athletes and the weekend was a massive success for the local area. With side line events running throughout the weekend also like the Everybody’s Run and Ironkids, Ironman Wales was an extremely popular event.
