With folk and rhythm at its heart the Green Man Festival in Hay on Wye has not strayed far from its roots since its inception in 2003 and has continued to grow in popularity with this year’s event selling out. You won’t find the latest chart toppers here, but that doesn’t mean the music lacks with plenty of unknown acts playing in and out of one another across the weekend.
The festival has a very authentic feel and people are not seen cueing for miles as you may expect from similar big stages over the summer. Instead there is a very relaxing atmosphere as you walk around and visit the many other things going on here. There’s Einstein’s Garden which holds workshops and contains science, nature, entertainment and art for people to enjoy as well as a real ale tent and many other things to see and do.
The festival seems to be growing organically with word passing on that this really does have a unique atmosphere to it. With Noah and the Whale and Fleet Foxes amongst this years headliners the Green Man Festival does not look to be slowing anytime soon!
