The Celtic Trail has something for every type of cyclist from families with small children to the more adventurous riders seeking a challenge.
You can ride individual sections or of course, you could ride the whole 220-mile route in one go. If you set out from Fishguard in the west it make the most of the prevailing winds. That way you’ll make it to Chepstow Castle, five days later, feeling fit as a fiddle, having cycled through coastline, valleys and stunning country parks.
The terrain is mixed from undulating lanes with one or two climbs on the western section to an easier section from Kidwelly to Neath. An optional off-road High Level Route option through the forests between Neath and Pontypridd climbs to 2000ft (600m). The final section from Trelewis to Chepstow is largely downhill or flat, on railway paths, towpaths and quiet lanes.
