Description

Nestled in the beautiful scenery and countryside of the Cambrian Mountains, Yr Hen Sgubor (The Old Barn), has been thoughtfully created into a comfortable holiday home, at the end of a terrace of cottages. Dating back to before 1865, the cottage offers four bedrooms and two bathrooms, and is perfect for a holiday with family or friends. The beamed, open plan living space leads on to an enclosed terrace and lawned garden with fabulous views. No doubt you will want to sit here and relax, as you watch birds fly by, including the renowned red kites.
Devil’s Bridge Falls, less than 5 miles away, is a world famous tourist attraction, where the unique waterfalls and trails provide an opportunity to see this great natural feature in the Rheidol Gorge. You can travel by steam train between Aberystwyth and Devil’s Bridge, and appreciate the scenery. The seaside resort of Aberystwyth has lots of shops, cafés, restaurants, pier and promenade, and boasts the longest electric cliff railway in Britain. Take a trip to the summit and enjoy coffee and cake, whilst taking in the breathtaking views across Cardigan Bay. The area is popular with walkers being near the Hafod Forest Estate and various scenic pathways. There are over 60 miles of coastline, lovely beaches (many dog friendly all year round), coves and seaside towns to enjoy.
With many other attractions including mines, museums, quad biking, golf and nature reserves in the vicinity, you will never be short of things to do. Yr Hen Sgubor is an ideal location for enjoying the local beauty or exploring all that Wales has to offer. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

About the local area

For those who really want to escape it all then mid Wales is the place to go. Because of the vast mountain ranges in this area much of it is uninhabitable. However this does not stop it from being a beautiful place to visit.

The Cambrian Mountain range dominates and because it is often over looked due to the Snowdonian and Brecon Beacon ranges it is a secret just waiting to be discovered. Fish in one of the many reservoirs and rivers or bike up some of the challenging trails across the range.

Further to the east the towns of Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells both provide amenities for your day in the mountains. From here you can also travel to the Black Mountains in the South East or visit the neighbouring English border
