Description

Nestling on the easterly slopes of an unspoilt valley, Ty Canol Mawr is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty amid mountains, hills, lakes and rivers. Listed in local records as a ’township’ since early times, Glyngynwydd, in which the cottage stands, now consists of a traditional 17th-century farmhouse, surrounded by a cluster of farm buildings of various ages, some of which have been sympathetically converted to provide self-contained holiday cottages. They stand in 12 acres of land which include woodland, a wildlife pond, meadow, relaxing gardens and a stream for guests to enjoy.
Ty Canol Mawr, meaning large middle house, is a terraced property which sleeps four with an open plan living/dining room, shower room, a fitted kitchen and two bedrooms. Ty Canol Bach and Ty Canol Mawr can be let as one unit with an interconnecting door between the living areas.
A small stream runs along the front of each cottage with a little footbridge providing access to each door. A pathway leads to the shared garden and barbecue area. There is also a shared laundry room which has a washing machine and tumble dryer as well as barbecue equipment and ball games. Whether you are looking for a peaceful holiday to sit back and relax, or would rather take advantage of the many attractions and leisure pursuits this beautiful part of mid Wales has to offer, look no further than Glyngynwydd Cottages and Wedding Barn.
The Stables is a separate property which is available for group bookings where friends and family can socialise together around large tables, so ideal for dining together. You can also book The Barn which is available for weddings or other celebrations. Both of these facilities are available to book when Glyngynwydd Cottages are booked as a whole. Please advise prior to arrival and book directly with the owner.
The lovely market town of Llanidloes, 2 miles, takes its name from the early 17th century Celtic Saint Idloes and is the first town on the River Severn. The half-timbered old market hall stands at the crossroads of the four streets of the original medieval town. Built around 1600, it is the only surviving building of this type in Wales. Here you will find shops, a swimming pool, pubs and restaurants. There’s a wealth of places to visit in the area and plenty of activities to suit all tastes, including mountain biking, canoeing, shooting, bushcraft, golf, cycle hire and off roading. The owner is also able to arrange courses for group bookings, such as pottery, furniture painting and cheese or chocolate courses. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles. Ty Canol Mawr can be booked together with Ty Isaf (UK6199), Ty Canol Bach (UK6200), Ty Uchaf (UK6203) and Ty Cornel (UK6202) to accommodate up to 19 guests.

About the local area

For those who really want to escape it all then mid Wales is the place to go. Because of the vast mountain ranges in this area much of it is uninhabitable. However this does not stop it from being a beautiful place to visit.

The Cambrian Mountain range dominates and because it is often over looked due to the Snowdonian and Brecon Beacon ranges it is a secret just waiting to be discovered. Fish in one of the many reservoirs and rivers or bike up some of the challenging trails across the range.

Further to the east the towns of Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells both provide amenities for your day in the mountains. From here you can also travel to the Black Mountains in the South East or visit the neighbouring English border
