Solitude is a stunning three-story home, situated in the heart of rural mid Wales, with wonderful views from all angles over glorious countryside and the Severn Valley. This very tastefully designed, detached home is perfect for year round holidays, family holidays, celebrations and occasions or to get friends together for a reunion. Solitude boasts a large spacious home and rooms that easily accommodates 13 guests (plus one extra infant) without them being ’on top of one another’. Also for the pleasure of visitors is a private, extra deep hot tub situated just off the secluded veranda, a separate games room with darts, air hockey/table tennis and a 7" pool table. The home is surrounded by lawns and gently sloping gardens on three sides and outside there is car parking for 10 cars, bespoke bench, barbecue, garden furniture to seat all and a bike store.

The area is very picturesque at all times of the year, and ever-changing with each season. There is an abundance of flora and fauna, wild flowers and plants on sides of lanes and in the hedgerows, when in season there are blackberries, sloe berries and hazelnuts for free picking with a variety other hedge plants including, honeysuckle, wild rose, hawthorn, oak, blackthorn and may more. The bird feeders in Solitude are kept full in the garden attracting an array of birds including woodpeckers, nut hatch, blue tits, finch, cheeky red robins and people have seen red kites, buzzards, curlew, doves and have heard cuckoo in May and owls at night.

The closest town is Newtown, 6 miles, which was established as a market town by Edward 1st in the 13th Century. Today there are many places for people to enjoy including Oriel Davies Gallery, Hafren Theatre, Robert Owen and Newtown Textile Museums, a cinema, bowling alley, leisure centre, Dolerw Park (great for running and walking) and Pwll Penarth Nature Reserve. There are also plenty of amenities nearby including gyms, coffee shops, restaurants, takeaways, pubs and a variety of other shops. The closest local amenities from Solitude can be found at Caersws, 2.5 miles away. Here you will find a petrol station, emergency groceries, post office, butchers, hairdressers, fish and chip shop, 3 pubs that serve food, railway station and Mid Wales Art Centre.

Solitude makes an ideal base from which to explore mid Wales in any direction - the borders with England, the coast and further afield. There is walking and cycling tracks from the door. Some other outdoor activities include Glyndwrs Way and Hafren Forest, both 7 miles away, as well as walks and fishing along the River Severn, canoe hire, quad biking and mountain biking trails. Some tourist attractions include, Powys, Montgomery and Dolerw Castles, Welshpool and Llanfair Railway, Llyn Clyedog Dam, Lake Vwrnwy, Elan Valley and the Snowdonia National park. These and others are noted in more detail in the ‘Welcome to Solitude’ book found in the property. Beach 38 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

About the local area

For those who really want to escape it all then mid Wales is the place to go. Because of the vast mountain ranges in this area much of it is uninhabitable. However this does not stop it from being a beautiful place to visit.

The Cambrian Mountain range dominates and because it is often over looked due to the Snowdonian and Brecon Beacon ranges it is a secret just waiting to be discovered. Fish in one of the many reservoirs and rivers or bike up some of the challenging trails across the range.

Further to the east the towns of Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells both provide amenities for your day in the mountains. From here you can also travel to the Black Mountains in the South East or visit the neighbouring English border
