The image of waterfalls cascading over rocky cliffs and down to a beach and the sea might sound more Amazonian than Welsh  but, about eight miles to the north of Cardigan, in the village of Tresaith, this very sight can be enjoyed as part of a magical west Wales holiday.

The village sits in a sheltered, sandy bay and takes its name from the River Saith, which forms the beautiful Gwalia Falls as it runs over the cliffs and down to the picturesque beach, which is known to be one of the safest, most pleasant areas of coastline for bathing in all of west Wales.

As well as swimming and playing in the waves, visitors to Tresaith beach enjoy windsurfing and sailing under the watchful eye of the village lifeguards.

Handily poised just minutes away from the beach is the village pub, the Ship Inn, where beachgoers can enjoy a drink and watch the sunset over the bay.

Cottages in Tresaith are popular holiday destinations throughout the year and walks along the Cardigan Bay coastline can be just as spectacular in the winter months as during summer.

Wildlife enthusiasts can spot dolphins, whales and turtles in the bay at Tresaith, while the surrounding hills, cliffs and fields are often populated by ornithologists spotting kites, buzzards, puffins and gannets.
