The coastline can be reached by foot down a steep trail, where guests can enjoy the use of a private wooden platform and explore the secluded coves of the Bay by kayak or canoe - a haven for Atlantic seals, who are frequent visitors! The nearby local beauty spot of Mwnt offers a sheltered sandy cove, owned by the National Trust, which although off the beaten track and accessed by 130 steps, proves very popular in the summer months. The beach is perfect for families, offering safe bathing, rock pools to play in and the chance to spot seals and bottle nosed dolphins in the bay. The horseshoe shaped bay is an idyllic place for a quiet picnic, with the call of the wild birds adding to the soothing nature of this peaceful spot. Many visitors take a walk around the headland of Foel y Mwnt, which is a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest and part of the Ceredigion Heritage Coast, to enjoy the views and the plentiful coastal plants and flowers. From here you can also join the spectacular Ceredigion Coast Path which follows a 60 mile route along the Cardigan Bay coastline. This path can also be accessed from the property itself.
The market town of Cardigan is 6 miles away, where visitors can browse its many shops, visit the indoor market located within the newly renovated Guildhall and Gallery or wine and dine at one of the cafes, delis, restaurants and pubs. Throughout the year, there are a host of exciting fun filled festivals and events taking place in Cardigan that will appeal to everyone, from Cardigan County Agricultural Show in July to the Celtic Blue Roc Festival and The River and Food Festival in August to Cardigan Victorian Evening in December. A boat trip from the town's newly created river side pontoon to the mouth of the Teifi estuary and Cardigan Island is a must. This special conservation area is teeming with wild life. The same delights can also be enjoyed at the Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park in Gwbert, just over 4 miles away. The Cliff Hotel and Spa and the Gwbert Hotel's Flat Rock Bistro are both lovely venues to enjoy lunch or an evening meal both overlooking the sparkling waters of the estuary. The picturesque beaches of Tresaith, Penbryn, Llangrannog and New Quay are all a short drive away. Nantmawr Cottage is an ideal base for families seeking a quiet holiday retreat, and is the perfect location for dolphin spotting, beach fun and exploration of this beautiful part of Wales.
