Description

Nestled in wonderful Welsh countryside, this delightful former stable has been lovingly restored by the current owners to a charming semi-detached cottage on the owner’s smallholding close to the Teifi River Valley. Bwthyn-y-Stabl is one of two cottages at Penlanganol and is full of charm and character with exposed beam, stone walls and a wood burning stove where a supply of logs is aplenty. The kitchen is fitted with locally made wooden fixtures and fittings.  Guests can relax by the shared non-heated outdoor swimming pool or by indulging in a sauna or enjoying a barbeque in the large lawned garden – a bonus for families.  The property is approached by a farm track and yet is only 20 miles from the scenic Heritage Cardigan Bay Coastline.

Bwthyn-y-Stabl can be booked together with Bwthyn-y-Sgubor (621003) to accommodate up to 10 people.

Drefach Felindre is only a mile away - a picturesque village in the beautiful Teifi valley with two pubs and a shop.  The village was once the centre of a thriving woollen industry.  Shirts, shawls, blankets, bedcovers, woollen stockings and socks were all made here and sold in the surrounding countryside - and to the rest of the world.

Located in the historic former Cambrian Mills, the National Wool Museum is a special place to visit. The area has numerous streams and forests providing much to see and do for walkers and nature lovers.  Drefach Felindre is in the centre of a network of wooded valleys, which are largely unspoilt and offer a variety of walks both for the energetic walker and the strollers amongst us.

From spectacular coastal walks along the Ceredigion Coastal Path affording glimpses of dolphins, seals, porpoise and marine birds; through the lush green river valleys, to the heather capped uplands and forests of the Cambrian Mountains where red kites and buzzards soar majestically above.

The cottage is ideally situated to explore the surrounding area.  The famous waterfalls of Cenarth are just a few minutes away and well worth a visit, as is the market town of Newcastle Emlyn, situated on the Teifi River, the town is home to a castle, many local shops, pubs, cafes and supermarket.

The town of Cardigan, about 15 miles away at the mouth of the river Teifi also has an arts centre and cinema.  The Wildlife Centre located just outside Cardigan, in the village of Cilgerran is well worth a visit.  Cilgerran is home to a castle and deep gorge, where canoe and kayaking trips are available to hire.  Watch out for otters, kingfishers and many other birds and animals at the Wildlife Centre.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path begins just outside Cardigan and offers glorious walks along this dramatic coast.  Dolphins and seals can often be sighted basking in the warm waters on the coastline.  Other local attractions include golf, horse riding, fishing, sailing, boat trips, gardens, local craft workshops and craft trails.

As this property is located on the borders between Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire the attractions of all three counties including the National Botanical Garden of Wales and Aberglasney are within easy reach. New Quay, Aberaeron, the National Trust beaches of Penbryn and Mwnt and the tiny interesting villages of Llangrannog, Tresaith and Cwmtydu dot the nearby Heritage coast famous for its birds, seals and bottlenose dolphins.

Bwthyn-y-Stabl is a charming retreat to unwind and relax and a good central location to enjoy the countryside, the beaches and local attractions this area has to offer.
